Good Monday morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did. I spent some time hiking with my wife Saturday. We spent some time at a friend's house Saturday afternoon, and we just stayed around the house Sunday. Oh, and I signed up for a 50k ultra-marathon. That's 31.1 miles. The race is scheduled for Nov. 4, 2023. I did a marathon in November of 2021, so I figured the next step would be to try an ultra. I let my fitness and training slip after finishing the marathon, but I have reigned my training back in within the last 6 months to a general sort of fitness. I did a half marathon trail race in April, and that sparked the urge to sign up for the 50k. I wasn't really trained up for the half marathon, but I signed up and finished it none the less. It felt good to start and finish the event. It also reminded me that I really enjoy endurance sports and the feeling I get when I sign up for and finish something challenging. My personal mission is to continue to find ways to push myself out of my comfort zone, both mentally and physically. I am not the fittest person, nor am I even close to being fast, but I can push through. When I started my fitness journey it was about getting physically healthy and having a better quality of life. While that still remains the key focus, I found the rewards of using endurance sports to challenge myself. I am committing myself to training for and completing the 50k I have signed up for. I hope everyone has a great week!
